Episode V

In class today we continued to watch star wars Episode V. Our assignment was to write about star wars the movie as a text. Some of the themes that were shown in the movie were the constant battle between good vs. evil. In the movie we have the empire vs. the rebellion. The empire being the evil group lead by the Saith and his apprentice Dark Vader. Then you have the rebellion (good side) lead by Princes Leia and Luke Skywalker. Each side fighting for what they believe in, using what ever methods are necessary to win. As always there is always going to be some kind of love connection between two characters in this case it seems to be the most unlikely couple. on one side we have Princes Leia and on the other a space pirate named Han Solo. Both have feelings for each other only Leia is in denial. Han Solo is a complicated character being a space pirate he seems to only care about himself and not others. Yet some of his characteristics that he has shown are of loyalty and friendship. For example: in the beginning he said that he needs to leave because he had some one after him because he owed him money, if he doesn’t pay he will die. However, because Skywalker was in trouble, and he choose to go out and save him instead of leaving. The last element that I saw in the movie was the since of obsession from Dark Vader. His obsession is in trying to get Luke Skywalker. To day when i was watching the movie I noticed that he killed one of his officers for failing him, and disregarded some of the dangers that his ships were facing all to get Skywalker, and his crew.

All of this is true, Han develops a bond with Luke, because, I think he either sees himself in Luke, or he admires Luke! He's just got a crush on Leia!

The theme you've overlayed about Stars Wars is present but it is a theme that majority films are based on. have you also noticed the theme between Yoda and Luke. The theme of teacher and student? Like in Rocky, Karate Kid, and etc. the student constantly says what he\she can't do until the teacher shows them it can be done or a tragic event occurs.
